How You Can Help

Volunteers: This office could not provide the vast number of services that we do for 2500 seniors if it weren’t for our staff and volunteers. John Freese our wonderful custodian, who gives us so much of his time and energy, Fred Robertson, Shirley McIver and Ellie Diersch who provide fuel assistance during the winter and early spring and Bud Wheaton and Greg Doyon who help seniors prepare their tax returns. George Whiting provides a free legal clinic the 3rd Monday morning each month. Every month the newsletter has to be folded, sealed and labeled and this task would not be possible without the volunteer efforts of many people. We would also like to thank the sponsors of our Newsletter: Abington Bank, Bemis Drugstore, Camelot Apartments, Colony House Nursing and Rehabilitation, Family Hearing Care Center, Peter and Henry Cahill & Son Remodeling Contractors, Professional Hair Care by Denise, Quealy & Son Funeral Home, Warmington Furniture and the law office of Attorney George L. Whiting, Jr. Other organizations that helped during the year include the majority of Abington’s restaurant community who donated food and time for our Taste of Abington fundraiser, Abington Rotary, and Lions Clubs for donating emergency fuel assistance and of course the Abington Elderly Services, the Friends of Abington Seniors, and the Abington Senior Citizen Association as well as countless others who have given to make Abington a better place for its’ seniors.
