Zumba Gold Classes have switched from Mondays to Tuesday early evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE - Abington's Public Health Nurse is available for Abington residents of ALL Ages. The Abington Board of Health in conjunction with the Council on Aging now offer the Public Health Nurse at the Abington Senior Center with expanded hours. The nurse, who is a staff member of the Norwell VNA will generally be available to Abington residents at the following locations:
Every Monday 9:30AM - 12:30 - Abington Senior Ctr
1st Tuesday of Mth 9:30 - 12:30 - Leavitt Terrace
2nd Tuesday of Mth 9:30 - 12:30 - Shaw Ave
3rd Tuesday of Mth 9:30 - 12:30 - Chestnut Glen

Tax Assistance

  • Volunteer Greg Doyon is at the Abington Council on Aging during tax filing season (February to April) to assist seniors to file their income taxes.  Bud Wheaton is still helping Seniors to determine whether they may be eligible for Circuit Breaker Tax Credit available since 2001.  Call 781-982-2145 for an appointment.

Senior Tax Rebate/Work off Program

  • Abington’s Senior Tax Rebate Program for property owners age 60 plus was just expanded at the June Town Meeting so that another 15 participants may participate in addition to the previous maximum of 20.  Eligible participants, age 60 plus, may earn up to a $500 credit against their property taxes, but must meet certain guidelines including being a property owner in Abington and being able to fulfill a job need in one of the Town departments.  Please see COA staff, if interested in learning more.
