In Memory

Those that have Left Us: Sadly, the COA must report the loss of Kate Kelley from our board, Bob Donlan from the board of the Friends, and the honorable judge Martha Ware from the Abington Elderly during 2009. Kate and Bob were both important contributors to the often spirited discourse in our meetings while Judge Ware was a quite force behind the scenes, raising and donating money to support our senior community.  We mourn their loss as well as Mary Cooke, another of our fondly remembered volunteers who passed away in 2008.  Please note that a special dedication ceremony at the Senior Center is being planned for May in 2010 to honor Bob, Kate, Martha and Mary.

May brings special dedications to honor the late memories of:

  • Kathleen “Kate” Kelley – The “Kelley Tree”
  • Robert “Bob” Donlan – the “Donlan Benches”
  • Mary Cooke – the “Cooke Garden”
  • & Judge, Martha Ware – the “Frame-Ware Exercise & Fitness Room”

Kate, Bob, Mary and Martha were all special contributors to the seniors of Abington who enriched the lives of so many.  Please stop by and ask our staff to point out these items that were so wonderfully donated.

The photos are from the dedication we had at the center on May 1, 2010
